Traditional dresses of Jammu kashmir.

Costumes of Jammu and Kashmir are well known for their embroidery and intricate designs, which reflect the richness of the culture. Most of the garments are made of wool or silk designed with intricate embroideries of cotton. 
The Hindu women in Kashmir wear long pheran , stitched up to feet with narrow sleeves clothes which is turned on the bottom side. Often, the pherans are  wrapped tightly around the waist . Hindu women have started wearing saree now. But as per  the culture of the kashmir region,  they have to wear taranga on their marriage day . 
Pherans  worn by muslim women are traditionally Charactrise by their broad sleeves and reach up to knees . Elaborate zari embroideries or floral patterns around the neck.
